Candidate Pledges to Represent All Jersey City Neighborhoods as Mayor

Mayoral candidate and Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea today announced a new commitment to accessibility and transparency: as Mayor, he will open a new Mayor’s Office at the City Hall Annex on Martin Luther King Drive and spend at least three days a week working there.

O’Dea said the proposal underscores his pledge to bring city government closer to the people. He emphasized that moving the Mayor’s Office to the City Hall Annex provides more convenient parking, easier access for many residents who live in the surrounding neighborhoods, and a symbolic reminder that City Hall represents the needs of all of Jersey City.

The City Hall Annex is a great facility, but what it needs is a Mayor who will actually be here, three days a week, every week, meeting with residents, hosting programs, and making city government more accessible,” said O’Dea. “I live just seven blocks away, and I’ll walk here every day. On my way, I’ll be able to talk directly with constituents about the issues they’re facing. This is about making sure the people of Jersey City know their Mayor is present, accessible, and working alongside them.”

Under O’Dea’s plan, the City Hall Annex will host weekly open office hours where residents can speak directly with the Mayor, in addition to regular meetings and programs. The commitment to work from the Annex three days per week is part of O’Dea’s broader campaign promise to increase accountability and make city government more responsive.
